I’ve been collecting gemstones for over 20 years. What started as a childhood hobby of picking up pretty rocks on family beach vacations has grown into a lifelong passion. I love learning about the unique geological and physical properties of different gems. I’ve amassed an extensive collection featuring rare gems from around the world.
When I’m not hunting for gems at shows, mines, and in the rough, I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others. I launched the Gem Quest blog 5 years ago to help educate readers on the fascinating world of gemology. On my blog, I write in-depth guides, review the latest gem finds, and profile notable figures in the gem and mineral trade. I especially love highlighting underappreciated varieties that deserve more attention.
In addition to blogging, I’m an active member of the Oregon Rockhounds club. I frequently volunteer to lead workshops teaching kids the basics of identifying rocks. I also author a monthly column for Rock & Gem Magazine where I offer collecting tips, highlight new discoveries, and review the latest publications.
When I’m not focused on my passion for gems, I enjoy traveling, hiking, and sampling diverse cuisines around the globe. I draw inspiration from encountering new cultures and landscapes. I hope to foster wider appreciation for Earth’s natural wonders through my writing and interactions with others who share my fascination with rocks.
